New Welcome Thread

It's worth a read for anyone who is interested in joining us, anyone that's new to the Jesters or anyone who wants to refresh their memory on our (very minimal) rules.

Moria is Imminent

As I'm sure everyone is aware, the release of The Mines of Moria is imminent. Everyone at the Jesters is excited, and we're looking forward to seeing a resurgence of interest from our kin. I'll look forward to seeing you all underground!

In other news, tonight is the night for the first Jesters meet up. I wish all the best to those going - I hope you have a great time. I'll look forward to piccies in the near future.

Jester's Party

Having recently received a good deal of new members (especially from Loki and Enraged Messiahs) we thought it would be a nice idea for as many Jesters as possible to gather up at the Jesters kin house for a bit of a knees-up on Saturday 12th July at 1900 BST. Nothing serious is going on (as is usual for Jesters), but it would be nice to see as many people as possible so we can all get to know each other a bit better!

Balrog Down

You read that right! On 18th June 2008, the Gnesters Group 2 took the Balrog down. We've been progressing at a good pace with the Rift, and this is the culmination of the hardwork put in by everyone that has taken part over the months. Particular mention must go to Paela for his fantastic leadership. But everyone that has taken part has been great, and we had a fantastic team last night. We are now, of course, hoping to continue taking Mr Thaurlach down so that everyone can get the lovely bits and bobs they need from him.

Jester's Calendar

Langly had a fantastic idea, and has set up a Google Calendar which shows the Jester's event diary. Head over to our new calendar section to see what we have in store.

We, along with the Gnomes and other Evernight Alliance members, have several raids coming up. The Gnomes are currently arranging twice weekly Rift raids - so lots of thanks goes to them. We also have a Helegrod raid on Friday, in which we hope to take on Thorog. As always we are doing weekly instance runs - this week will see 3 groups head into Annuminas.

Helegrod and Expansion

Just a quicky to let you know we're having the first Jesters organised (with considerabl Gnome help, of coourse ) Helegrod raid today. I've spoiled it by not being able to come, but I'm sure there will be a great time had by all!

If you pay attention to the boards (here, or on the Codemaster forum) you'll be aware that we have an expansion on the way! It will be called 'The Mines of Moria' and, believe it or not, wil take you into Moria. It will include 3 new regions - Eregion (part of which will be added in Book 14), Moria and Lorien. The level cap will be increased to 60. A new system of 'Legendary Items' will allow you to get special pieces of equipment (examples cited include weapons and shields) and then level them up with various things that you gather. There's a lot more information that's been released - check 'Game Chat' in our forums to see.

Helegrod - March 16th

On the premise that we should update the frontpage more than twice a year I thought I would just update to say that we are doing a Helegrod run with the Gnomes and our other Alliance partners this Sunday (March 16th). It's currently full-up (unless you're a minstrel ) but we are looking to turn it into a monthly event for 48+, so keep your eyes open for April's run, which is currently scheduled for April 13th, though that is subject to change. This is as well as the weekly Rift and instance runs (Wednesday nights) we do with the Gnomes and Alliance partners which have proven to be hugely popular - we had 4 fellowships hitting Carn Dum last week - enough for a raid of Helegrod! So, despite the lack of front-end activity (snigger) the kinship is alive and kicking.

Anyone with any queries about raiding or instances, feel free to ask on the forums, or PM one of the officers - or just grab one of the officers in game!

First off I have to say a huge thankyou to everyone that turned up, was a belting event.

For those of you that didnt see the other post, the event was a challenge to see who could get furthest from the shire with a character where the highest level allowed to enter was 6!

With nearly 25 lvl 6 (or under) characters all leaving from michel Delving at around 5:30 pm GMT it was gone 6PM before we suffered our first death. (many, many more followed)

The prizes were dished out as follows:

First Death - Bosley - 1c

Least Distance Covered - Knightfall - 1c

6th place - 11542 metres - 702s 36c - Mike

5th Place - 11617 metres - 1g 53s 54c - Aryll

4th Place - 11661 metres - 1g 755s 90c - Sayara

3rd Place - 11662 metres - 2g 633s 85c - Temporiel

2nd Place - 11771 metres - 4g 389s 75c - Erengarrd

1st Place - 12948 metres - 7g 23s 60c - Bosley

Big congratulations to all the prize winners, who now have quite possibly the richest lvl 6's in the game.

Thanks to all the competitors for making it a great event and for rasing over 17gold in prize money.

Mission Impossible - 8/12/07

Warning - this blog post will self destruct...eventually.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to take a low feeble character out into the wilderness of Middle Earth and cover the furthest distance from the safety of the Shire as possible!

Ok here's the pitch, make yourself an alt on Evernight (so no excuse whatever server you usually play on) get them to a maximum level of 6 (sorry over 6's not allowed). Meeting at 5pm (GMT) Saturday Decenber 8th.

You will then be set off with (hopefully) a load of other lowly level 6's from Michel Delving, you then have an hour (and as many deaths as you like) tor ecord the furthest distance from the start. You can choose any route you like as long as you head off east and not off back to thorins hall.

This will be judged by each competitor being in a raid led by a member of the Jesters who will remain at Michel Delving, when you die the raid leader can simply check the distance away from him you are on his map before you ressurect.

Of course there will be wonderful prizes of in game gold!! As with previous jesters events the prize fund will be made entirely of donations, everyone will be asked to donate as much or as little as they like, so please be generous and post your alt some money from your mains.

The jesters will also subsisdise the prize fund with a healthy few gold start.

Rules:

Not allowed to use mapping, porting, or transport with a hunter
Not allowed to be escorted by high level players
All competitors must be in a raid with a member of the Jesters of Middle Earth
Only death distances /tell'ed to the raid leader will be considered
Prize fund will be split:

1st - 40%
2nd - 25%
3rd - 15%
4th - 10%
5th - 6%
6th - 4%

Head over to the Forum pages and find a news section with guides on all the classes. At the moment it only has Burglar guides (with Minstrel and Guardian on the way).

As well as having information on how to play AS each class there is also information on how to play WITH each class, I would encourage everyone to read this bit at least, should be interesting.

If anybody would like to volunteer to write Loremaster, Champion, Hunter or Captain guides that would be most appreciated (don't feel you have to write as much as I did, I got bored at work and it was more interesting to fill the guide up). Send me a PM if you will help us out :)

Horse Racing results

Unfortunately I was having computer problems and had to leave the running of the event to my kinship mates.

But I was kept in touch with how events unfolded and I am quite frankly astounded.

A lineup of apporaching 30 people turned out for the event (with many more there to cheer them off). At the start of the event the prize fund stood at 5g 200s (many thanks to the Jesters of Middle Earth who donated this ammount despite teh fact most of them were not competing), we requested everyone made a donation to the prize fund and the final total stood at a quite astounding 13g 367s (Big thanks to all competitors, I was expecting many "token" donations, but everyone contributed most generously).

The finishing positions and prizes were as follows:

1st - Lofty 5g 347s
2nd - Spragen 3g 341s
3rd - Thema 2g 5s
4th - Macdui 1g 337s
5th - Gwyndrian 802s
6th - Sneakly 535s

And getting a special mention finishing in last position and winning 1 copper was Stonewolf in what I am assured was a stunning performance and cheered over the line by all involved.

Thanks to everyone that turned up and made it a great event.

Keep an eye out for us cos we'll be doing something else at somepoint no doubt :)
