    Welcome to The Jesters

    Welcome

You have found your way to the forums home of the Jesters of Middle Earth. We’re a friendly kin of casual players who are in it for the fun. We come from all over Europe and all walks of life. We are known on the Evernight server for daftness, like our parties complete with party games, various forms of Conga all thru Middle Earth and of course jumping off stuff (intentionally or not). We do indulge in the more serious stuff like raid and instances, but not as regular as some other kins around. If you are after high end content and raids, you might find other kins more to your liking. If however you are after fun and frivolity and think seriousness is overrated, you’ve found the right place!

A lot of useful stuff is in these pages, but not always easy to find, so I’ll try and list the most important stuff. Feel free to roam around and see what you can find.

    Rules:

We’re not big on rules in this kin. Unfortunately you cannot run an effective kin without some ground rules for people to follow.

    So here goes:

    1. We do not tolerate racism. This is one of the few things that will get you instantly booted and no chance of appeal.

    2. No harassment, bullying, offensive or otherwise unacceptable behaviour. Basically, keep to the Codemasters Code of Conduct that you agreed to when you first started the game.

    3. Selling of stuff in kin chests without officer permission is not acceptable.

    4. No messing around with loot. Follow loot rules set out by your raid/fellowship. If nothing set out, assume Need if you need it to complete a quest, use it on that characters profession, it’s going to replace your current armour, etc. Greed if you want it to sell, etc. Pass if you don’t want it. Needing money is never an acceptable reason to need on an item. If you are leading your expedition and have master looter on, give people what they have rolled for. Mistakes happen, we are all just human. But if you are found to be disregarding this on purpose, you will find an officer having serious discussions with you.

    5. Complete your player notes (more on this later)

    6. Enjoy yourself! We’re all here to have fun. Talk to one of the officers if something is bothering you.

And a few points to be mindful of:

    1. When talking in kinship or open channels, be mindful of the language you use. We have several minors in our kin as well as adults who don’t enjoy the kind of language that’s unsuitable of minors. When talking to someone in-game, you will never know how old they are.

    2. Bear in mind that you have Jesters of Middle Earth floating above your head wherever you go. You represent the kin, especially if you are the only Jester in a fellowship. Your action will reflect on all of us.

    On with the fun stuff!

Jesters Japes section of the forum will show you what we are up to next and any ideas that have been bantered about. Have a look and see if something takes your fancy.

    Player notes:

We have so many alts in the kin, it’s impossible to keep track without help. That is why we insist on everyone filling in their player note. It helps everyone in understanding why alts get called odd names and it helps me so I don't accidentally boot those toons that have not been on for a long time. In fact if you don’t, you will not be made a member. Filling them in is easy. It does not need to state much, Main or Alt of (Main) will do. For instance:
    Heappestre - Main
    Esme - Alt of Heappestre

or if you want to get creative:
    Esme - Heap's ikkle hobbit

As long as I can clearly tell whether it's a main or not and if not, who it belongs to. The button to Update Your Note can be found in the Kinship tab of the Social window.

    Absent?

We know real life is more important than gaming. That is why we will not think worse of you for not logging in for a while. We won’t kick you from kin for not being around. However, if you are a recruit and have not logged into the game for more than 30 days or a kinsman/woman and not been on for more that 120 days you may be kicked if you have not posted on the forum or contacted the recruitment officer (currently Heappestre) saying you want to stay but will be gone for a while (and no, you don’t need to tell us why if you don’t want to). If you have been booted because you've been absent, you are more than welcome back, just let an officer know.

    Housing:
The kin house is in the shire, in the slighting instance and the address is 4 Myrtle Court, but you might want to know where ur fellow jesters live (and a few gnomes, dont worry i'll get to what a gnome is), take a look at the address book: http://jome.me/forums/t/416.aspx

    Book Quests:
Needing to do the in-game books? Get in touch with Bregiel, our resident book run organiser. Keep an eye on http://jome.me/forums/49.aspx as well, you never know.

    Instances and Raids:
Up for an instance or raid? Have another peek here http://jome.me/forums/49.aspx and you might just find what you're looking for. Also have a look here: http://jome.me/forums/p/1362/14790.aspx so you know what we expect from you.

    Calendar:
With so much going on, you're probably loosing track of what is happening when. Fear not! We have a calendar to help you and us out: http://jome.me/calendar/default.aspx

    Voice Chat:
We have our own Ventrillo server, where we sometimes get together and chat. It also makes life easier when questing together and it is essential for organised books, instances and raid runs: http://jome.me/forums/t/540.aspx

    Skiving:
And our forums most popular thread, with (at the time of writing 11th March 09) over 381 pages is our skiving thread to keep you entertained whilst at work: http://jesters-of-middle-earth.com/forums/t/406.aspx
